Drink Like a Rider: The Dragonfire Mule Recipe

Drink Like a Rider: The Dragonfire Mule Recipe

Violet Sorrengail might say, "I will not die today," but I'll add: "but I shall drink."

Fourth Wing is hands down one of my favorite book series of all time and with its third installment is only just coming out on January 21st, I need some liquid courage to face whatever emotional chaos Rebecca Yarros plans to inflict. As someone who owns my own very grumpy, very judgmental dragon (okay, fine, service dog), I knew I needed a drink worthy of celebrating Onyx Storm's release and surviving the ride.

Enter the Dragonfire Mule—a fiery twist on the classic mule that may have you wake up in the middle of a field with a tattoo on your body like any bonded rider. This one features Fireball Whisky and a little bit of spice (like with all my favorite books).

As always, drink responsibly: my joke about signets does not mean you should go get a tattoo under the influence.

Dragonfire Mule

aka: Fireball Whisky Bourbon Mule

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Fireball Whisky
  • 0.75 oz bourbon (I used brandy in my tutorial video)
  • 1/4 lime
  • 6 oz ginger ale
  • Cinnamon stick to garnish
  • Optional: orange luster powder

Instructions:

  1. Fill your favorite glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the Fireball Whisky, bourbon, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
  3. Top with ginger ale and stir gently to continue.
  4. Add a pinch of orange luster powder if you want a shimmering dragon-inspired effect.
  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, and enjoy!
